In my humble movie-loving opinion, to get the full enjoyment out of Gladiator II, you have to watch Gladiator 1 fairly recently so it's fresh in your mind.
Paul Mescal: He is definitely the lead of the movie. He gave a strong, almost quiet portrayal of his character. I felt his feelings, his sense of loss and his motivations for his actions. I give him all the kudos for his performance.
Denzel Washington: This veteran actor continues to show his acting chops. His performance was amazing--love or hate his character. I wouldn't be surprised if he receives some acknowledgement for his work during award season.
The picture as a whole is visually stunning and grand in scale. It's definitely violent and graphic, but appropriately so.
Congratulations to the director .Ridley Scott, for creating a fantastic sequel. And that's saying a lot for me because I don't normally enjoy sequels. Highly recommend this one.
