I share this video and facts not only because it is interesting but to also illustrate that we are but a drop (pun intended) in the ocean of life. Some of these creatures are endangered and fighting for existence and some of the reasons are within our control. We, the human species, need to practice conservancy and help these animals survive so that we can all continue to thrive too, as part of the circle of life.

Here are some suggestions on how you can help protect marine life:
  • Eat environmentally friendly fish. Check out Seafood Watch for more specific ideas and suggestions.
  • Limit or reduce your use of plastics because a majority of it somehow finds itself in the seas. Check out The Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
  • Help curb the effects of Global warming and ocean acidification by reducing your carbon footprint--that's our own personal contribution to pollution and waste.
  • Be energy efficient
  • Participate in a beach clean-up (and if you don't live near a big body of water, organize and participate in a neighborhood clean-up).
  • Educate yourself about Marine Life and volunteer for a conservancy organization if your interests are peaked.
  • Donate to a conservation effort or speak out through personal conversations, letters, and/or social media.
  • And so on & so on....many creative avenues to contribute, just use your imagination.
Encountered this genius meme the other day & love its message.
